Mapping of municipal strategies and plans

The process of mapping municipal strategic documents, partnerships and the requirements of municipalities for additional trainings was initiated by the PRS Implementation Focal Point in cooperation with Government institutions, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities and international organizations conducting activities at the local level in Serbia.

The objective of this initiative is to register different types of municipal strategic plans already developed or in the stage of development, with a view to establishing an integrated database as a resource for all the interested stakeholders operating at the local level in Serbia. This database will help all the institutions of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and international development partners working at a local level to enhance prioritization, planning and efficient coordination of their activities at the local level. The exercise should also improve exchange of information on reforms at the local level and simplify the process of implementation of municipal strategic plans.

We have undertaken research, collected data and made a comprehensive overview providing information on municipalities that have drawn strategic documents, period and areas these cover, bodies that are drafting or implementing the local strategic plans, as well as the capacities and trainings required by municipalities in order to implement their strategic plans more efficiently. The information provided in the database may be interlinked with the basic statistical data of each of the municipalities enabling production of different types of reports. Also, further to information from the database, the interested parties will be able to download the collected municipal strategic plans.

We hereby express our gratitude to all people who took part in implementing this initiative. We invite your comments and suggestions towards improvement of the following version of the mapping document. We intend to update the present database twice a year and hope that the collected information will strenghten coordination of all stakeholders active at the local level in Serbia.
