Statements on PRS

“Now we have the framework (PRS)—and the framework is good. This is one of the rare occasions when a new Government does not change the strategy of the previous Government, when everything starts all over again. We know that a significant number of our fellow-citizens lives below the poverty line. They live in various regions of the country, and various activities can improve their position. We all are obliged to link our activities in order to enable a better life for them.”

Miroljub Labus,
former Deputy Prime Minister,
at the Conference on Poverty Reduction in Serbia,
Plandište, Ferbuary 22, 2005.

Three Strategic PRS Directions

  1. Dynamic development and economic growth, focusing on job creation and higher personal income

  2. Prevention of new poverty as a consequence of economic restructuring

  3. Efficient implementation of existing programs and creation of new programs, measures and activities directly targeting the poorest and socially most vulnerable groups (children, the elderly, disabled persons, refugees and internally displaced persons, the Roma, the rural population and the uneducated), particularly in the least developed regions
